The production of polymers such as rubber copolymers is generally carried out through methods like emulsion polymerization or solution polymerization. Traditionally, methods using a single-axis pre-dehydrator and an expansion extruder for drying were common, but we have now established a rationalization technology that processes everything with a single twin-screw extruder (TEX), which we would like to introduce. By using a twin-screw intermeshing type screw, efficient transportation and extrusion of polymers are possible. Our company uses a twin-screw extruder called 'TEX' for one method of removing volatile components from polymers, known as de-volatilization extrusion. To meet the increasingly stringent requirements for reducing residual volatile content, we have developed a water-assisted de-volatilization extrusion technology. By injecting water as a de-volatilization aid, we can enhance the de-volatilization performance to levels (residual volatile content of several + ppm or several ppm) that were not achievable with conventional methods. We are pleased to introduce the successful development of a continuous manufacturing process in the cosmetics field through the application of the high-speed twin-screw extruder 'TEX'. The manufacturing method involves the quantitative supply of main raw materials and various additives such as UV absorbers from a hopper, followed by the quantitative supply of fats from the middle of the cylinder via a pump for kneading and dispersion. By kneading at high speed, we obtain an emulsion-like product with a fine and uniform kneading dispersion state.
